A couple of weeks ago, Beyonce announced her pregnancy with a full-blown pregnancy shoot. She showcased her belly in the nude, both with Blue and alone, underwater. Since then, it has been stated that she would be performing at the Grammys and Coachella. I have been wondering how she would be able to pull off that performance with not one, but two babies growing inside of her. I could barely walk up a flight of steps without huffing and puffing when I was pregnant with just one baby.

But my girl Bey definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved her celebration and ode to motherhood. Motherhood and the ability to carry and grow life inside of you is a beautiful thing that isn’t celebrated as often as it should. And i think she highlighted it beautifully. From being dressed as a beautiful goddess with her belly on display, the poetic quotes about healing and motherhood, Blue dancing around her, and being introduced by her own mother; the entire performance was glorious.

“I think of mothers as trees growing to and from one another, searching for the same light.”

And just when I thought I couldn’t love her anymore, she won a grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade. She talked about how she wants to confront issues that make us uncomfortable. She say’s “It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror – first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympic, the White House and the Grammys – and see themselves”. It was such an inspiring speech, as we all can identify with wanting to show our children positive reflections of themselves in all walks of life.

Signing off,

Beyonce’s Biggest Stan 🙂
